Spine Specialist Solutions is the practice of Dr Richard Emery FRACS, M.D. (Paris, France), a qualified Spine Surgeon based at the Mater Hospital in Pimlico, Townsville. Dr Emery completed his Degree of Doctor in Sports Surgery in Europe in 1998, and his Degree of Doctor in Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology in Paris France in 2000 before undertaking further training in Spinal and Joint surgery under Professor Mazel in Paris, France between 1999 and 2000.

Dr Emery moved to Australia in 2001 where he was the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Surgery Registrar at St Vincent Hospital in NSW Sydney for a few months before relocating to Nambour General Hospital to be their senior Registrar. In that time, Dr Emery completed his AOSpine International Fellowship in Brisbane (2002-2003) where he gained invaluable experience in all areas of Spinal Surgery including trauma, degenerative, deformity, tumours, paediatric spine, infection and metabolic disorders from the cervical spine to the coccyx. Dr Emery is also widely experienced in addressing all sorts of spinal pathology including complex revision surgery. From 2003-2008 Dr Emery consulted at The Townsville General Hospital as a Spine and Joint Surgeon before commencing in full private spinal practice.

Despite his busy practice, Dr Emery travels extensively for various spine courses and conferences both nationally and internationally and was recently titled AOSpine Educational Advisor for the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr Emery lives in Townsville with his wife and two children. He is a keen sportsman competing in World class Triathlons in 1997, 2007 and 2008. In 1998, he became a finalist at the Medical World Tennis Championship in Austria and won the Medical World Golf Championship in Austria in the same year. He also enjoys fine food and wine.
